The Contract, Contract Line, and Contract Template entities are deprecated and will not be supported from April 1, 2022. They will be removed in a future major release of Dynamics 365. This functionality has been replaced by entitlements in Unified Interface. In the Classic interface, the client wasn’t able to use the functionalities related to Contract. So, we decided to move the data from Contract, Contract Line, and Contract Template entities to the Entitlement and Entitlement Template entities. But some of the records weren’t getting imported due to duplicate data using OOTB Import data tool of D365 CRM.
The deprecation of Contract entities in Dynamics 365 required a reliable migration strategy while preserving business data and avoiding duplicate record issues.
Designed an automated migration framework using Power Automate to cleanse, transform, and migrate contract data into the Dynamics 365 Entitlement model.
The migration successfully modernized the client's CRM environment by eliminating legacy dependencies, improving data quality, and ensuring a smooth transition to the Entitlement framework.
The Contract-to-Entitlement migration modernized the client's Microsoft Dynamics 365 environment by replacing deprecated entities with the supported Entitlement framework. Through Power Automate-driven migration, intelligent data cleansing, and structured field mapping, the solution minimized import issues, preserved business data integrity, and ensured long-term compatibility with Dynamics 365. The result was a reliable, scalable migration process that reduced risk while preparing the platform for future enhancements.
